Safe to say that moving yards in the middle of the season isn't ideal - however, the team worked unbelievably hard to make it all happen and leaving our last yard in immaculate condition.  A huge thanks goes to all of team. 

Think we were all ready for a holiday once it was done but it was time to bring all the horses back into work for the second half of the season.

We had a very successful day with three horses coming out at Aston Le Walls (3) for their first run after their spring 3 days.  They all did exactly what was asked of them - 3 good tests and double clears with steady cross country.

Mackenzy is stepping up to Intermediate next week at Burgham, with Camee de Muze doing the 3*S and Ballycoog Breaker Boy the 4*S.  Really looking forward to being back there as missed it last year. 

A very exciting prospect for the future.  Taken slowly to allow him to develop. Easy to handle on the ground and really enjoying his job of Eventing. 

2023 is really his first year competing and will start at BE 100 - He is very talented and we are lucky to have Caroline Leng as his owner who wishes to take his progress slowly and harness his talents, with the long game in mind.

Insight: 

William had 2022 out as he had a stable injury - however disappointing this was at the time, he has definitely physically benefited.  He is stronger than he has ever been and we feel our patience is paying off. 

Purchased as a 4 year old, he has been  very successful ever since.  During the winter following his 5 year old season, with time off, he grew a huge amount. This then followed a few months off as he pulled his hind muscles getting cast in the stable.  This lead to a late start to his 6 year old season which actually was a blessing in disguise, as it gave him a chance to adjust to his physical changes. As he is a tall horse we are taking time with him as he still has more strength to develop. Having been a quiet gentle giant as a 5 year old he turned into a demanding teenager as a 6 and 7 year old and is never happier than when he is working.  He really enjoys the challenges of Eventing and seems to like the big stage.

A very exciting horse that joined Will Rawlin Eventing in June 2023 having been beautifully produced by Lauren Innes. 

We are very much looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.  He is currently running at Intermediate/3* with a successful double clear at the 7 year old Championships at Cornbury International 2023.  2024 will be spent consolidating this and started with a good solid run at Oasby where he finished 6th in the I.

BRITISH EVENTING TEAM CONFIRMED FOR 2024 NATIONS CUP ARVILLE

British Eventing is pleased to announce the squad that have been selected to represent Great Britain at Arville Nations Cup between 15 – 18 August are as follows:

Alex Bragg from Bridgwater, Somerset, with 11-year-old gelding Ardeo Premier, owned by Debbie and Neill Nuttall.

 Selena Milnes from Clevedon, Somerset, with 10-year-old gelding Cooley Snapchat, owned by Mr & Mrs William Rucker.

Aaron Miller from Malmesbury, Wiltshire, with 10-year-old gelding Count Onyx, owned by Alexandra Van Tuyll.

Will Rawlin from Hungerford, Berkshire, with 14-year-old gelding The Partner, owned by rider and Andy and Miranda Rawlin.

The squad will be accompanied by Chef d’Equipe Philip Surl.

The British Eventing teams are supported by the British Equestrian Federation’s World Class Programme, funded by UK Sport through the National Lottery. The Programme focuses on identifying talent, developing potential and maximising medal-winning performances on the world stage.

Gavin Scofield

Gemma has worked with Will since 2016. We had met Gemma through Rupert Smith - a long standing EDT  who worked with our horses. When he retired Gemma was the obvious person take over their care.

Since becoming fully qualified Gemma began building a business and reputation for excellent dental care which was further excelled in 2016 by taking over from Rupert Smith.

Gemma covers mainly Northamptonshire and surrounding areas with the occasional locations nationwide by special request. The client base is diverse in terms of the variety of equine disciplines and all levels within them which Gemma finds important to full fill a more in depth understanding of equine needs.

A chosen career in the very specific field of equine dentistry was fuelled by a lifelong love of horses, the requirement of attention to detail and an overall compassionate approach with the desire to improve welfare and performance.

Gemma has been and remains a full member of the BAEDT (British Association of Equine Dental Technicians) since 2015. In 2018 Gemma was elected onto the council and served the Association for 3 years gaining valuable industry insights but mostly helping to promote equine welfare, professionalism, training and public understanding of equine dentistry.

Gemma graduated in 2013 from Hartpury University obtaining a degree in Equine Dentistry whilst being an apprentice of Grant Chanter from the years 2011-2015. Gemma successfully passed the BEVA/BVDA Equine Dental examination in 2015 to become a fully qualified Equine Dental Technician.

Grace started working for Will Rawlin Eventing in June 2020.  She is completely committed to the care of the horses and has a natural affinity to them. She remains calm at all times which is a great foil for Will!

Although none of us should have favourites Grace is very open about the fact that The Partner(Conquer) is her favourite.

In 2019 Grace graduated from The Royal Agricultural University with a degree in Wildlife Conservation. During her degree she was able to travel to some amazing places and work with a wide range of animals.

Horses will forever be one of her favourites.


Grace Bibby

Martyn has worked with Will since 2017. He takes great pride in the attention to detail. Taking his time to do what's best for the horse.

He qualified in 2008 and continued his learning with the aim to focus on shoeing sport horses and remedial work. Martyn spent several years working for some top Farriers, in their field, gaining experience. He also regularly attended lectures and veterinary talks.

Over the years he has been lucky enough to  work with some elite athletes and has learnt as much from the riders and horses as  from his fellow professionals. Martyn also works closely with a number of different veterinary practices.

His best advice to anybody working with horses of any level would be to remember that trends and technology will come and go but without doubt being able to communicate with the rider is the most important part of the job.

His aim with every horse he shoes is to create a balance between optimal performance while creating the best possible environment for the foot in order to protect structures for longevity in athletic career.

Martyn Richardson

Robert is a partner at Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons and is responsible for Rossdales Lambourn, which provides personalised first opinion and emergency veterinary services that are focused on the management of the equine athlete, as well as providing a comprehensive service to stud farms, in Lambourn and the surrounding counties. Robert has worked with Will for the last 3 years, since the start of Rossdales Lambourn.  Rossdales Newmarket has worked with Will for many years under the care of Ollie Pinn

Conquer is bred to show jump and we bought him as a 6 year old.  He likes his own space and given the choice wouldn’t have anyone in the next door stable. He is a sensitive character .  His confidence improved hugely over the years and this shows in his results and achievements.  

When away at big competitions we have to be one step ahead of him in how to keep him relaxed. He is a machine cross country. Where errors occurred they were not his doing.   He had a very good first half of 2022 finishing at Bramham 4*L with a good dressage, double clear with time faults keeping him out of the prizes.  We then gave him the rest of the year off as he had a small injury but he is back out in 2023 starting with a 7th in the Lincoln OI.

The Partner  (Conquer)

Stardom had a very successful year despite covid trying it's best to shorten it for us all. He is very straight and honest cross country. Although, he can be very excitable, he began to settle in his dressage tests the more he went out, in 2020,  achieving some good scores.

Insight: 

Purchased as a 5 year old in February 2018. It took him a while to settle into his new environment and is now a lovely well natured horse who enjoys his work. He is very trainable and hugely talented. 

He had a quiet year in 2019 as he had an operation to remove a tiny particle of skin from his bone. By the time he was back in work we felt time would be better spent in training rather than in competing at the end of the season. 

Unfortunately due to injury, his career was cut short  and was sold to Grace Bibby in May 2021. He is now living his best life in the field  supervising her young stock.!!



StarDom  (Dom)

V.I.P Vinnie is now retired from Eventing. He is going to be loaned out and have a career in Dressage.  We will be forever grateful for everything that was achieved with him and everything he taught us. 

Purchased as a 4 year old and was obviously talented from day one. He hasn’t disappointed since.  He loves to be the centre of attention and has always been top dog. 

He likes to perform on the big stages and they bring the best out in him. He now realises there are some young guns around and let's them know who's boss! 

His dressage has improved hugely over the years and we look forward to his future success.

Following XC retirement at his first 5* Vinnie had 2022 on the sidelines and although he competed at the beginning of 2023 it was decided that he should be retired from Eventing.

2021

3rd After Dressage at his first 5* at Bicton International. Sadly I had to pull him up after the second fence on the xc as I felt a change in his stride pattern. I am so glad I noticed as he injured a tendon. I don't like to imagine what would have happened had I not felt this. Nothing like the HIGHS and LOWS of the sport all in the space of 24 hours at the highest level.

V.I.P Vinnie  (Vinnie)

Otto has just competed at Cirencester Novice March 2023 and Finished on his dressage score of 27 - finishing second. 

Otto is super straight cross country and has a very easy big gallop.  He has lovely paces on the flat. He has been slow to develop due to his breeding but he has strengthened over the winter which will help his show jumping to continue to improve. He now has the Marlborough Downs to hack over so this will seriously help his development. 

Otto is hacked by everyone on the yard including myself and is beyond easy to manage on the ground at the yard. 


Optimus Actinium (Otto)

A very talented chestnut mare, bred and owned by Parkfield Breeding.  Queenie is Parkfield Breeding's first Embryo Transfer foal.

She has a very forward thinking brain and loves to learn.  She was backed in early 2020, given the summer off and then brought into work by WRE in the Autumn.  She will Event later this year and will be aimed at the Young Horse 5 year old National Championship.

Queenie is full sibling to Parkfield Quintessential (Double BYEG Champion and Best British BE Young Horse as a 4,5 and 6 year old). She is also full sister to Parkfield Little Phoenix who is being aimed at the World YH Championships 2021.

Dom is Owned by Parkfield Breeding. He joined Will’s team in October 2019.  The first lockdown played into his hands giving Will the chance to train him into his system. He is an exciting addition to the team with great promise. We are very much enjoying his development.

A truly exciting horse owned by Parkfield Breeding. 

Lou will compete, Eventing, later this year and will be aimed at the 5 YO Young Horse National Championship.

He has raw natural ability. It is exciting to see how he develops. He was backed as a 4 year old and then lightly worked for a month in July 2020.

He came into full work with WRE in the Autumn of 2020 and will be Eventing, later in 2021.


 06 Lou PFB (Lou)

George is a very genuine all rounder with a lot of potential to move up the grades in Show Jumping or Eventing. 

He loves jumping and is easy to train. He has always been very straight forward to look after and lives in or out.

He was bought to produce and sell.

Clonshire on Trend (Gorgeous George)


Purchased as a 4 year old at the end of 2018 and broken in, February 2019.  He is a very willing horse and wants to learn.  He has plenty of scope. He would be good as an Eventer or Dressage horse.

He competed a little during 2020.

He was bought to sell, so will go on the market this spring.
