We are very excited to see the first of Ascona M's progeny which are due in May 2024. We have two recipient mares carrying Ascona M X Amiro Z foals.

Ascona M (Ava) came to us in September 2021 and it has been decided that she will now stand as a brood mare.  She has been an amazingly talented horse, winning Luhmulen 5* in 2019, 6th Pau 5* 2019 and many top 10 placings at all levels throughout her career with Jonelle and Tim Price.

Amiro Z - has a superb temperament, he has plenty of scoped and competed internationally with success to 1.45m.  He is almost 70% thorough breed and is a very popular stallion for event horse breeders. He is an easy, rideable stallion with plenty of scope and quick in the air.  He has a number of successful progeny in eventing including Amiro Island (2016) ridden by Harry Meade, many top 10 at Intermediate and 2nd in 2*L 2023. Corimiro (2016) ridden by Sarah Bullimore, 1st 7 year old class and 3*L in 2023.  Caunton First Class (2014) ridden by Oliver Townend, many top 5 placings at 3*.

V.I.P Vinnie is now retired from Eventing. He is going to be loaned out and have a career in Dressage.  We will be forever grateful for everything that was achieved with him and everything he taught us. 

Purchased as a 4 year old and was obviously talented from day one. He hasn’t disappointed since.  He loves to be the centre of attention and has always been top dog. 

He likes to perform on the big stages and they bring the best out in him. He now realises there are some young guns around and let's them know who's boss! 

His dressage has improved hugely over the years and we look forward to his future success.

Following XC retirement at his first 5* Vinnie had 2022 on the sidelines and although he competed at the beginning of 2023 it was decided that he should be retired from Eventing.

3rd After Dressage at his first 5* at Bicton International. Sadly I had to pull him up after the second fence on the xc as I felt a change in his stride pattern. I am so glad I noticed as he injured a tendon. I don't like to imagine what would have happened had I not felt this. Nothing like the HIGHS and LOWS of the sport all in the space of 24 hours at the highest level.

Tenz is owned by Suzanne Houchin and Nigella Hall and joined WRE in November 2021.

We had an exciting year developing him in 2022 having 2 good finishes at Cornbury 2*S - 2nd, Bicton 2*S 6th.

2023 looks like another exciting year building on 2022 with Bicton 2*L as the first goal for this year. 

We are looking forward to his journey together and stepping him up to Intermediate this year and will continue to develop his strength and ability.

Conquer is bred to show jump and we bought him as a 6 year old.  He likes his own space and given the choice wouldn’t have anyone in the next door stable. He is a sensitive character .  His confidence improved hugely over the years and this shows in his results and achievements.  

When away at big competitions we have to be one step ahead of him in how to keep him relaxed. He is a machine cross country. Where errors occurred they were not his doing.   He had a very good first half of 2022 finishing at Bramham 4*L with a good dressage, double clear with time faults keeping him out of the prizes.  We then gave him the rest of the year off as he had a small injury but he is back out in 2023 starting with a 7th in the Lincoln OI.

The Partner  (Conquer)

Otto has just competed at Cirencester Novice March 2023 and Finished on his dressage score of 27 - finishing second. 

Otto is super straight cross country and has a very easy big gallop.  He has lovely paces on the flat. He has been slow to develop due to his breeding but he has strengthened over the winter which will help his show jumping to continue to improve. He now has the Marlborough Downs to hack over so this will seriously help his development. 

Otto is hacked by everyone on the yard including myself and is beyond easy to manage on the ground at the yard.

Dom is Owned by Parkfield Breeding. He joined Will’s team in October 2019.  The first lockdown played into his hands giving Will the chance to train him into his system. He is an exciting addition to the team with great promise. We are very much enjoying his development.

Insight: 

William had 2022 out as he had a stable injury - however disappointing this was at the time, he has definitely physically benefited.  He is stronger than he has ever been and we feel our patience is paying off. 

Purchased as a 4 year old, he has been  very successful ever since.  During the winter following his 5 year old season, with time off, he grew a huge amount. This then followed a few months off as he pulled his hind muscles getting cast in the stable.  This lead to a late start to his 6 year old season which actually was a blessing in disguise, as it gave him a chance to adjust to his physical changes. As he is a tall horse we are taking time with him as he still has more strength to develop. Having been a quiet gentle giant as a 5 year old he turned into a demanding teenager as a 6 and 7 year old and is never happier than when he is working.  He really enjoys the challenges of Eventing and seems to like the big stage.

Enjoying the training

A civilised time leaving the yard to drive to Norton Disney with Cullion Womanizer and Mackenzy. This was our first trip in our Owens 3.5Ton and what a difference it makes to the journey!

It was a VERY windy day, but pretty much dry so we were all happy and the ground had dried well since Friday.

Cullion Womanizer did some great trot work but having got spooked in the canter work decided to carry this through for the rest of the test!! He then did the same in the Show Jumping but again there was some good jumps also!.  I was really pleased with him in the xc despite a stop at a step down which in all honesty he hasn't seen recently,  as we haven't managed to get out enough xc training - can't think why!!!

Mackenzy was his normal consistent self - very good dressage with one "scoot" and then a lovely Clear SJ round - probably his best and a lovely steady XC finishing in 3rd place!

Next up is Burhham Market with the 4 big boys - in the 3* and 4* - hoping for a dry few days!

Then off to Kelsall.



A very exciting prospect for the future.  Taken slowly to allow him to develop. Easy to handle on the ground and really enjoying his job of Eventing. 

2023 is really his first year competing and will start at BE 100 - He is very talented and we are lucky to have Caroline Leng as his owner who wishes to take his progress slowly and harness his talents, with the long game in mind.

An exciting prospect that has joined the team in November 2022.  He has been bought to bring on, develop and sell.  He is to be aimed at the 7 year old Le Lion Championships in October 2024. 

He has a lovely character on the ground and has lots of ability in all three phases.  He is particularly talented cross country where he is confident and always looking for the next set of flags. He was XC clear in all competitions in 2023 and stepped up to Novice at the end of the season.

Huge shout out for the team at Tweseldown who put on a fantastic event in 4 days following the cancellation of Cirencester. Incredible - thank you to everyone. 
Camee de Muze and  Tenz, in the Intermediate, Mackenzy and Cullion Womanizer in the Novice.  I was really pleased with all the horses and particularly their Cross country and SJ.  Finishing the day with Camee de Muze and Mackenzy in the top 10 of their sections - both owned by Caroline Leng who was over from Jersey to watch them.

The first international at Thorseby went well and again a huge shout out to BEDE Events for the huge effort to keep the show on the road with all their advanced planning.  A great event.  Both Ballycoog Breaker Boy and The Partner were in the 4* Grantham Cup which read like the who's who of eventing. 

Ballycoog Breaker Boy was feeling on great form and produced a very good test (30.4) with two obvious mistakes preventing it from being lower.

He jumped well in the show jumping with 1 pole and was excellent cross country - he so enjoys this  - I do have to remind myself to concentrate and not sit as a passenger!

The Partner also did a very good test (32.6) but we missed a flying change and a little tension in the canter work but otherwise I was very pleased with him. Sadly not his day in the SJ ring  - he was far too excited to get out on the cross country so had a couple of poles which is very unlike him.  As a result we didn't run him XC

Both these horses, Camee de Muze and Tenz are heading for the 4*s and 3*S at Burnham market in a couple of weeks. 

We are just rejigging some of the horses runs as Portman and South of England have been abandoned. 

Mckenzy and Cullion Womanizer are now heading to Norton Disney on the 7th April -followed by their first 2*s at Kelsall Hill -  fingers crossed they run!!

A very exciting horse that joined Will Rawlin Eventing in June 2023 having been beautifully produced by Lauren Innes. 

We are very much looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.  He is currently running at Intermediate/3* with a successful double clear at the 7 year old Championships at Cornbury International 2023.  2024 will be spent consolidating this and started with a good solid run at Oasby where he finished 6th in the I.

Huge Shout out and update

We have had a successful start to 2024 and have managed to run at Poplar Park, Oasby and Tweseldown.  These runs were to get the horses back out, see how our winter training has benefited them and have steady cross country runs.  

It was a good start with 5/5 clear cross country and 4/5 clear SJ  - William just rolled one pole at Poplar Park, but more than redeemed himself with a Win in the OI at Oasby and Camee de Muze was 6th in his I section - also at Oasby.

The dressage has been good although The Partner and Tenz were both very spicy in their first tests - both very excited to be back out.

Sadly Moreton was abandoned for the youngsters so they went to practice their dressage in competition mode -doing 2 tests each -not quite the same as having fun round the cross country!

Lots more to come - fingers crossed Cirencester goes ahead where all the horses are running followed by Thorseby with Ballycoog Breaker Boy and The Partner

Ballycoog Breaker Boy - Why jump higher than you have to?!

2024 is up and running!

Ballycoog Breaker Boy had a brilliant run at Blenheim Palace 4*L. His dressage test was good. I know we are capable of better so was a little deflated afterwards.  However, he stayed in touching distance with the top ten and it certainly wasn't going to be a dressage test only competition. 

He gave me a mega round in the cross country and made it feel very easy  - just one combination we had to make it happen otherwise a foot perfect round with just a few time - and climbing into the top 10 as a result.  The cross country certainly caused problems with many top horses not having such good rounds. 

He sailed through the trot up.  The results were very close with minimal points between everyone so sadly our one pole dropped us to 17th.  

I was thrilled with his performance and very excited for 2024 as he will now have an early holiday and aiming for Badminton next year having got our qualification.

First ride on Kingston who has joined the team for a few months whilst Marianna Sawyer is away. This was his first competition this season and made a great start to finish second in the Novice.

Not to be out done Otto also finished 2nd in his Novice section so a good day had by all.  

It was lovely to be at Larkhill in good weather as usually it is wet, or foggy and or windy!! The ground was good too!!!

An amazing job was done to keep the show on the road and we were very pleased to get the Novice horses a run.

Tenz did a great test - 27.5 with just 1 pole but did jump very well with a great cross country to finish 7th.  This horse has come on so much during the winter despite having a growth spurt! Very much looking forward to him stepping up to Intermediate at Cirencester 2.

Otto's first competition of the season and the hills in Wiltshire have certainly benefited him.  He finished on his dressage score of 27 to take 2nd place. 

Sadly the weather beat the organisers so William and Conquer didn't get their Intermediate runs. 
They will run at Burnham Market next in the 3* and 4* respectively. 

Cirencester 1

It was good to get back out for the first day of the season for us.

Overall it was a good day.  The Partner (EHOS Syndicate) was on at 8.06 which meant leaving the yard at 2am! Talk about a rude awakening to Eventing 2023!

The Partner was so relaxed in his test and I was very pleased with him - as many will know this is not his favourite discipline but he was very rideable. He then had a great double clear going steadily XC to finish 7th. The clear SJ was particularly good as it was certainly causing problems with the tricky ground.

Ballycoog Breaker Boy was back having had a year off in 2022. He had an excellent test - very balanced and level headed and was up there with some very successful horses.  He found the SJ quite hard work due to his lanky legs and tricky ground so was pleased to come out with just a pole.  He was as straight as always XC and again we just went very steadily as planned.

had a very good test leading the section and achieved the only clear SJ. Unfortunately I had a rider fall in the early part of the course  - Both of us are absolutely fine and look forward to Cirencester next week.

Lincoln Report

We have less than 2 weeks to kick off our 2023 season. 

We were very pleased with all the horses that competed in 2022 and look forward to them stepping up this year to their next levels.  

A couple of weeks ago we moved yards to Rockley Manor Stables, Near Marlborough.  There is unlimited hacking all across the Marlborough downs so this should benefit the horses fitness and mind. 

We are looking forward to a busy and exciting 2023 season. Will and The Partner (Conquer)are on the 4* Academy again this year. They had a very successful training weekend the other week. The Partner and Will are aiming for their first 5* together in Luhmuhlen. 

Ballycoog Breaker Boy is aiming for Bramham 4*L and then if that goes well 5* at Pau in October.  

Tenz (owned by Suzanne Houchin and Nigella Hall) will be at Bicton in May to do a 2* L and then stepping up to Intermediate and 3*.  Optimus Actinium will run along side Tenz . Mackenzie (owned by Caroline Leng) will start his BE career in April. Ronnie, who is a new purchase for Will to bring on and sell later in the year will start late spring. Ronnie is by the same sire as Ballycoog Breaker Boy so we look forward to his development.  Buzz (Owned by Claire Hubbard) is a five year old who will start competing later in the year. 

V.I.P Vinnie is back in full work which is lovely - we will enjoy each competition with him.  He starts at Burnham Market in April. 

We have 2 fab new Grooms  - Alissa Tyler - who as well as working at the yard will be out and about with Will at the competitions. Courtney Cook will be based at the yard and  holding the fort while we are competing. 

We look forward to an exciting year with the team.

It was great to be back at Oasby.  We haven't been for a few years but despite only having one horse to run there it was well worth the trip.  

Great ground and well run, as we remembered, and good opportunity to catch up with friends and sponsors. 

The Partner (Conquer) set the season off to a great start finishing 5th in his OI section with some stiff competition and Senior team horses.  31.6 and double clear with just a few time. 

We were really pleased with his dressage test, which he has always found challenging. The first time for a long time we didn't have to pump him with calmers to get through it.  He was the most relaxed he has ever been and we credit our new feeding regime with Hi Form Equine for this, together with his increased strength and trust in his own body. 

He is running at Cirencester Park on the 27th March and then heads to Burnham Market over Easter for the 4* Short.

It is exciting to be supported by Equitex UK and for them to be part of our team. The Saddle pads are made to a very high standard and very definitely improve the comfort of the horses.  I love the fact that they don't slip  - this is very important for me as the horses have to work in 3 different disciplines. They help to protect the horses backs from pressure points and adapt to the way the horses move and muscles develop. As I share some of my saddles between horses these pads are a great way to support the comfort for each and every horse without restricting their development.
